I am committed to making a difference to the lives of individuals and families. Preventing problems from arising in the first place and early intervention to prevent problems from becoming worse, and thus more difficult (and costly) to address, are at the heart of my thinking. So too is effective partnership working, which cuts across organisational, professional and geographic boundaries leading to more integrated public services.

I joined Practice Solutions in May 2017. As a former senior civil servant, I have considerable experience of national government and public services. While majoring in housing and health, my experience extends across many policy areas including social services, communities, and labour markets. I have a track record of policy and programme development, implementation and evaluation, including legislation, and was responsible for the development and passage of several new Acts of law including the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, Wales’ first ever Housing Act. I have led numerous multi-disciplinary teams inside and outside Government, with stakeholder engagement and effective partnership working being strengths. I have also undertaken a wide range of reviews and investigations, and was Secretary to the public inquiry into the major outbreak of E.coli O157 in South Wales. I have written and/or edited numerous publications. My experience includes work with the European Commission and the World Health Organization, for whom I was a Temporary Adviser. My professional qualifications are in social research and marketing. I currently hold voluntary roles in two charitable organisations.
