Specialist areas:

  • Social services policy, legislation, regulation and funding
  • The interface between health and social care including Continuing NHS Healthcare
  • Adults with learning disabilities

I am passionate about helping to ensure that services work for citizens.

I was for over 14 years a senior civil servant working variously in housing policy, social services policy and public services reform. I also worked on a number of areas at the interface between health and social care including delayed transfers of care and Continuing NHS Healthcare.

I was the lead for the development of the social services strategy “Fulfilled Lives, Supportive Communities”, the 2010 National Framework for Continuing NHS Healthcare and drafting “From Vision to Action”, the Report of the Independent Commission on Social Services. I am now Chair of Trustees of “Valeplus”, which provides educational, vocational, training and recreational service to adults with learning and related disabilities.
