I have a brother who has learning disability and autism, and as a result my interest and passion has always been in the field of learning disability. I am committed to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism through change, loss and bereavement, and palliative care.
I started my career in nursing and worked for over 15 years with the Conway and Denbighshire NHS Trust (now the Betsi Cadwaladr NHS Trust) and then worked as a Health Liaison Nurse for Adults with Learning Disabilities in Flintshire. Latterly, I worked as Director for Inclusion for Mudiad Meithrin. I was responsible nationally for every aspect of inclusion within the organisation, with the emphasis on ensuring that children with additional needs received equal opportunities to learn through play in the early years. I now work as a part-time Practice Education Facilitator in learning disability nursing and mental health nursing at Bangor University. I am also a Trustee of Learning Disability Wales.
