Brilliant Sarah climbs Newport Transporter Bridge
Newport Transporter Bridge Climb on Saturday 15th August
Over £650 has been raised by not for profit organisation ResponsABLE assistance towards the cost of shipping a container of mobility equipment to assist disabled people in rural Kenya who have no access to welfare as we know it.
Trevor Palmer, who runs responsABLE assistance, thanks everyone who climbed the bridge and especially Sarah Goad whose determination to climb the bridge commands total respect. Sarah has mobility difficulties and over the last six weeks has lost nearly a stone in weight and psychologically prepared herself to climb the Transporter Bridge. She managed to raise £200 in sponsorship and helped contribute to marketing the occasion successfully. Sarah is a real Hero!
Trevor who is a wheelchair user saw three of his carers also climb the bridge and he is grateful of their keeping an eye on Sarah throughout her crossing. ‘It has been a brilliant team effort by all concerned and great awareness has been created for disabled people who really need our help. Our project in rural Kenya is ongoing as is our commitment to assist disabled people in disaster situations around the world. Recently we collaborated with Save the Children to send over three tons of mobility and medical equipment to assist disabled survivors of the Nepalese earthquake. Funds are always needed and we are hoping that those who promised donations for the bridge climb will be able to do so soon.
ResponsABLE assistance is entirely run by volunteers.Back to blogs
