Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS)
This one-day workshop, using a human rights based approach, explains the background and legal basis for safeguarding the rights of vulnerable adults, lacking capacity, who may be deprived of their liberty.

Aims for this course are to:
  • Explain the process of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and when they need to be used
  • Explain the difference between deprivation of liberty and restriction of liberty
  • Identify ideas and methods to improve the well-being of people in their care who may be subject to deprivation of liberty
Who Should Attend:
This workshop is intended for social work and healthcare managers, community care managers (nurses/social workers) service providers involved in the provision of residential or nursing home care.
